The house at Pencarrow built by the 4th Baronet Sir John Molesworth (founder of the Molesworth Banking company now Lloyds Bank) dates from 1765. Tthe gardens were designed and created between 1831 and 1855 by the  Sir William Molesworth 8th Baronet.

This beautiful garden has many notable features including the famous one mile carriage drive laid out in 1842 and lined with specimen conifers, rhododendrons and camellias, A sunken Italian garden and a vibrant kitchen garden. Also of note a Celtic cross dating from the 8th century, a wishing well,  an ice-house,  a lake, a grotto and a cave!
